What we don’t want
Leadership that centers protecting its own benefits.
What we do want
A mayor who leads by example and follows the same leave rules as city directors.
They act in our name.
We can demand better.
Things in Auburn, Washington need to change. Our city’s agents murder, beat up, spy on, and steal from all of us.
Mayor Nancy Backus, Police Chief Mark Caillier, and their staff act like they don’t need our trust. They lie about what happens in our streets. They give us the runaround when we ask a question. They won’t say sorry or admit they made a mistake.
They do it in our name. They do it with our money. They do it believing that they’re right.
They’re not. Do better Auburn. Here are actions we can take.
Look at the record.
Name the problem.
Ask for something better.
Leadership that centers protecting its own benefits.
A mayor who leads by example and follows the same leave rules as city directors.
An officer repeatedly punching a man in the street.
Pro-social policing that prioritizes de-escalation, dignity, and appropriate crisis support.
